Integrative Care

Some of my job is being there when things go wrong, especially in the middle of the night. A large part of my job is being there to help your horse feel 100% and to prevent disease or problems in the future. Western medicine or conventional medicine is great.. I wouldn’t be out in the middle of the night without it! You can’t beat antibiotics for pneumonia or sutures for a laceration. But I find it more and more important to approach a situation with a holistic mind as well,  and offer knowledge that can help you and horse and maybe finding that the horse is predisposed to breathing issues or asthma before he’s bad off, or that there are options to deal with a stressed horse that may prevent a laceration in the future. There are many options to treat your horse both preventatively or for a specific problem. Holistic Medicine…

You know it wasn’t too long ago that most of this therapies (acupuncture, chiropractic) where thought of as quackery. I do think it is one of those things you need to experience for yourself, and the results can be amazing. When I am treating a horse with some of these modalities, I often amaze myself!
