Amber Bowen, DVM, MS, CVA, CVMMP
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Bowen grew up locally competing in both English and Western disciplines. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a degree in Physics, and completed a Master's degree in Equine Science researching digital radiography of the equine athlete. She graduated from UC Davis Veterinary Medical School in 2014 with a specialized interest in lameness and complex pain evaluation in the performance horse. Post graduation, Dr. Bowen worked in Ocala, Fl at a performance horse clinic.
Dr. Bowen is certified from the Chi Institute in Veterinary Acupuncture and since has completed several advanced courses in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bowen is additionally certified in equine medical manipulation (chiropractic) by the Integrative Veterinary Medicine Institute.
After assisting the community in multiple disasters, Dr. Bowen began the Sonoma Community Animal Response Team (Sonoma CART). On her off hours she enjoys time with her family and on non-profit international outreach adventures with International Veterinary Outreach to provide veterinary care to animals and communities in need.
Courtney Johnson
Veterinary Assistant
Courtney grew up in Petaluma and attended the Santa Rosa Junior College. She is active in the Petaluma Riding & Driving Club, volunteering her time to coach the Junior Drill Team and organizing the Friday Night Lights barrel races. In her spare time, she handmakes specialty leather apparel with her company California Cowgirl Customs.
Courtney is a superb horse handler (your horses will love her!), and an excellent asset to our team!
